Women's Dionysian Initiation - Villa of Mysteries, Pompeii

Before Mount Vesuvius covered Pompeii with ash, a spiritual center flourished near the city, where women experienced profound initiations similar to those of Eleusis, but focused on womanhood. Detailed murals in the hall of initiation illustrated much of the experience. Linda Fierz-David's book shows how this supported individuation in the Jungian sense, and is as relevant now as it was 2,000 years ago. We will discuss the literature, explore the murals, and use active imagination to experience the journey ourselves. All genders welcome. Some mature content. Doors close for trance.
